2022 Report

The BoTu Servetje project has begun! Here’s a short report for 2022 (September - December). A lot has happened and we hope a lot more will happen 😊 If you want to learn more or you’re interested to join in, we’d love to hear from you! Contact us at bakkie@botuservetje.nl.
Servetje is online
Our own “servetje” is online and can be found on Mathenesserweg, at Sándors house. Since the beginning of September we have been meeting almost every week to learn how to set up and manage our own server together. And that seems to have worked out: this website is now hosted on it 💃 We have also registered a domain name (our own slice of the internet!) and you can now easily find us on botuservetje.nl and contact us via mail on bakkie@botuservetje.nl.
Bollenpandje website
We’re also working on a new website for the Bollenpandje! There isn’t much to see on bollenpandje.nl right now, but it’s on the way! With the help of our friend and neighbour Jo Willoughby, we are now finishing up the design. The idea is to have a vibrant website that shows the thriving community and various initiatives that are active at the space.
We plan to physically host this website from the Bollenpandje itself and have it on their own server of course 🙃 It’s important to us that a server as a concept does not remain abstract and inaccessible. We can’t do everything in this short 5 month period but we can focus on creating awareness.
BoTu editorial team photo archive
We are also discussing the need for a digital storage for the neighbourhood with the BoTu editorial team.
Many organizations use online services such as Google Drive and Dropbox, but can we have a more local and smaller-scale alternative that better meets the needs of the neighborhood and not a massive company?
As a test and first step, we have set up a Nextcloud on the Mathenesserweg server and are uploading photos and videos there. We’re happy to report that all user data remains stored in the neighborhood 😎
We will continue this discussion with the editorial team about how we want to develop this initiative later in the new year. We’d love to hear from you if you’re interested too!
Nootjes
We see BoTu Servetje more as a social project and not necessarily a technical one. We do still however spend a lot of time sitting in front of a computer and that mean we’re inevitably writing a lot of meeting minutes! So, we set up nootjes.botuservetje.nl and it’s open and online for anyone who needs a handy digital “notebook”!
Next year
We’ll continue carefully working on the projects described above 😺
We also want to organize more public moments so that we are more visible in the neighborhood.
There are more ideas in the works. We’re talking to De Bouwkeet about the possibility of an online neighborhood calendar and what that would look like. We also want to find the time to do something together with Huis van de Toekomst and hopefully also with the BoTu Buurthuiskamers.
